Diognesister, I agree with everything you said, except my ignorance. My point of view was not a blanket condemnation on those that get pregnant as a teen. My point was some chickens in England run about and got pregnant because they wanted a council house, the man was used as meat and the government to pay for it. Now those that did that are not the teen mums that you refer too. But the facts are if a teenager in England gets pregnant they are made for life, and many took that option, and that % was quite a high proportion of those given council houses. What do I base my % on? Those teenage girls from the period I grew up with as a teenager. As for your illustrations I don't have a problem with that, but the government should look at the cases individually, before giving free housing in affluent areas to those that abuse the system.

Poor people are sub-human?
by Alostpuppydog inhas anyone noticed how many jw's really seem to be rollin in it?
escpecially the elders, and they treat their subordinates like filthy gum on the bottom of their shoe?
just wondering because i too am poorer than poor and have spent a fourth of my life homeless already and i am 22.. another thing to consider is why domost of the population on this planet seem to hate the poor, even though we outnumber the middle class and the rich greatly?

Jehovah's Witness / ex-JW Suicide Rate?
by Simon init's no secret that both remaining a jw or leaving the wts can take a toll on mental health.
some will suffer from depression and ultimately some will have thoughts of suicide and a few will succumb to those.. but i don't recall ever seeing any hard stats or studies on it though.
i'm sure we all know of some people who have committed suicide but i don't know if, because you may have loose association with a much larger pool of people through the religion, that this only seems higher or maybe not be actually higher than the general population.. what i mean is, you go to a kh here there maybe 100-150 people, you attend circuit and district conventions with many tens of thousands - if any one person commits suicide then you likely hear about it and it becomes part of the anecdotal 'evidence' that is then put forward as a fact that there is a higher rate ... but is there?.

I've got to get my head around the O.P. I had never thought about it like that.
i remember a guy that came to meetings, he was a smoker, a drinker, and yet he kicked the habits and got baptized. When he went back to smoking he was disfellowshipped. I was at best only 13 at the time. Now more mature I can say any organisation that treats members like that and says basically they are a waste of space and disfellowships them will have a high suicide rate.

I asked my son to stop playing football. It was a simple kick about he was playing with a friend using the garage door as the goal. I then went to my home and thought no more about it. However when I looked out the kitchen window 10 minutes later my son had disobeyed me and continued to play football. I was cross and asked him to come inside and game over. We then discussed the " disobedience" and Orlando said:-
" I often play football and use the garage door as a goal, so I didn't see why you said it" That was a great learning lesson for me. I should have said " We have moved our bicycles, they are now by the garage, so please don't play football here as you may hit the bikes with the ball".Anyway the cycles are no longer by the garage door, Orlando can continue to use the garage door as a goal, and in future when I ask my son to do something, I will explain why.
I learnt from this lesson that I also make the same mistake with my wife, friends and in business. Even on this board I often put my point of view across, but I fail to clarify my reasons. Am I alone in this?

5 Ways to Improve Your Online Security
by Simon inlet's face it, we're all connected now.

On line security, hmmm. Last year I nearly lost the rights to a property I owned and was selling. Why? Nothing to do with modern on line security. On the day of completion my solicitor realized he hadn't got a form named " T1" signed with my signature. I had to search boxes of " junk" found it and E.P.S it. Yes even with " On Line Security" we need remember our most important security documents are often stored in a box in our cupboard.

Sir82, I think the world of science has taken away the simple faith of God. But with out life everlasting, and with the knowledge our death is the end, community responsibility , has given my life value. This is what I want to teach my son, but modern technology has created a new " Watchtower" of Pokémon, mindcraft and other stuff that have created difficulties in putting this message across to my son. Charts are worth a thousand words. But personally I think my life is all about my community, and the people that make it a better place. I hope in my smaller picture, my community is educating and contributing to making the world a better place. But I must say in all truth, it has taken me much failed effort to teach my son the importance of charity and giving to the poor.

Where We Jews (and Religionists) Have Not Been So Forthcoming
by David_Jay inbecause i feel some people have become confused in thinking that i am promoting religion or thinking that being jewish is some type of special gift that makes me better, i am writing to tell you that i don’t feel this way.
think of this as your christmas gift (or chanukah or festivus or whatever).. despite the fact that i too practice a religion, i also think atheism is a purposeful and noble use of the mind.
too often people with a religion have only bad things to say about atheism and atheists.
